July 2005:
goes to: Enhance Face & Body Spa, Hartsdale, New
York
"Cruise for the Cure"
New Jersey - Tradition lives on… this year’s award celebration was held during The Day Spa Association & The International Medical Spa Association’s charity event which was part of the official program of the Spa & Resort / Medical Spa Expo, on May 22nd on the SS/Temptress cruising the Hudson River via the Statue of Liberty and gazing at the New York and New Jersey Skylines.
DSA Events Committee Chair, Monique Lacobacci and her committee members, gathered the crème de la crème of the day spa and medical spa industries to donate products and services to be raffled off as door prizes or being part of the “goodie bag” (supplied by Action Bag) each guest received. Food and service were superb, the DJ kept everyone happy and although the weather could have been more cooperative, the skies cleared up so everyone had a good view of Lady Liberty!
The announcement of the winner of the “Distinguished Day Spa Award 2005” was eagerly anticipated, especially by the owners and managers of the accredited day spas who entered the competition for this prestigious award and attended the event. Not everyone can be a winner, however, we all cheered when the "Distinguished Day Spa Award 2005" was presented to:
Enhance Face & Body Spa, Hartsdale, New York
Ms. Bonnie Hagen and Sherrie Eskow, Owners of this distinguished spa in Hartsdale, NY were both present to accept this award, along with their staff. The award itself consists of a beautiful wooden and marble plaque with the name, award title and year engraved in gold. This esthetically pleasing plaque now adorns the reception area of Enhance Face & Body Spa to attest to their high quality of service, their commitment to their clients and to uphold the excellent reputation Day Spas Association members are receiving throughout the industry.
Enhance Face & Body Spa was founded in 2000 and became an accredited DSA member in 2001. The facility changed ownership in 2003 while continuing the accreditation status and enhanced the quality program and philosophy of the spa by realizing a responsibility to take health and wellness services to the next level as well as act as the role of communicator, educator, and service provider within their own community, specifically addressing the specific health care needs of cancer patients and their caregivers. “Owners Bonnie Hagen and Sherrie Eskow certainly impressed our Board with their submission when entering the 2005 contest”, comments Hannelore R. Leavy, Executive Director of The Day Spa Association. “Their devotion to reach out with their cancer program they developed is exceptional and should be an example to many of our member spas”.
In order to be considered for The Distinguished Day Spa Award of the Year day spas have to be accredited by the Day Spa Association as to their adherence to the Association’s guidelines. "When we get ready to choose our Award winner, we invite all accredited spa members to submit a 50-word synopsis why they think they deserve this award presented once a year at a major industry show", explains Leavy. The DSA ADVISORY BOARD then casts their votes judging not only the spa menu, their quality of service and commitment, but taking into consideration all aspects of operations, with special emphasis on continuing education available to their entire staff, as well as their commitment to create a nurturing atmosphere for their clients as well as personnel; their commitment to community, environment, humanity, and the spa industry, influences the decision process.
Accredited spas are clearly marked in THE DAY SPA DIRECTORY, as well as on www.dayspaassociation.com, including a separate page where they are listed alphabetically for the world to see; with this page getting the most visitors from the one million hits a month the website receives! Press inquiries to the DSA on almost a daily basis are directed to those accredited spas when asked about “the best day spas” we can recommend.
The elite circle of Accredited Day Spas: can be viewed at the Associations’ website, recipients of The Distinguished Day Spa Award from previous years are clearly marked.
